Each year in December, wreath-laying ceremonies take place at cemeteries nationwide with an honorable mantra…
Remember, Honor, and Teach.
These words represent the mission of a Maine-based non-profit organization called Wreaths Across America (WAA).
The organization focuses on Remembering fallen U.S. veterans, Honoring those who serve, and Teaching children the value of freedom.
National Wreaths Across America Day was on December 14 this year and saw 2.2 million wreaths placed at 2,158 Participating Cemeteries across the United States.
“Nearly 600 truckloads of wreaths were transported across the country through a network of hundreds of volunteer drivers, donated trucking services and fuel, and countless hours of dedicated volunteers committed to WAA’s mission.” (PR Newswire).
Statement from the WAA website: From the Revolutionary War to present day conflicts, our veterans are devoted sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers. They come from all backgrounds in life to place those lives on the line for our freedoms.
