Seriously though, please do NOT follow the ancient saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
I’ll admit, the saying may come from a place of good attentions – a way of appreciating what you have as long as it still works – the idea of saving money and avoiding unnecessary spending. I get that. I do. While this concept may make sense for something like furniture or glassware, it’s simply not true for business practices at your brokerage.
It’s important to remember that when it comes to the operations at your freight brokerage, It’s not about something being “broken,” it’s more about something possessing an opportunity for growth.
AND… it’s not that the way you run your business needs to be “fixed” – rather, it’s about modernizing and upgrading certain practices to save time and money while launching your brokerage to new heights!
Technology is CONSTANTLY evolving – and it’s up to us all to keep up. I mean, can you imagine a brokerage today that refused to use email or the internet? Can you imagine one that only performed cash transactions? Of course NOT.
So, I say we adopt a new saying in our industry: “If it’s outdated, upgrade it.”
