Nick Strimbu Inc., a family-owned refrigerated and specialized carrier in Ohio, optimized driver efficiency and back-office processes with Transflo. Learn how this partnership enabled Nick Strimbu to pay drivers faster and reduce administrative burdens, all while keeping trucks moving efficiently on the road with the help of Drivewyze.
Nick Strimbu Inc. is an asset-based, refrigerated, specialized, and flatbed carrier operating with the same family of owners since 1926. After starting in New Philadelphia, Ohio, nearly a century ago and mostly hauling clay pipe, the carrier is now based in Brookfield, Ohio, and is a regional leader in refrigerated trucking.
As a carrier with a long-standing reputation for reliability and quality, Nick Strimbu Inc. required advanced technology to streamline the transmission and uploading of essential paperwork. This capability was crucial for expediting payments to both the company and its drivers. Additionally, keeping drivers moving efficiently on the road was a top priority.
Up until May 2023, Nick Strimbu used Transflo partner Drivewyze for weigh station bypass services. However, after switching to a competitor whose solution ultimately failed in late 2023, the company urgently needed a reliable alternative to ensure uninterrupted bypass services for its drivers.
Joshua Williams, Director of Information Technology at Nick Strimbu, oversees the company’s technology strategy and operations.
“Transflo was already in place when I came on board, and we’ve continued to strengthen our partnership. They consistently provide solutions that meet and exceed our business needs,” said Williams.
When the alternative bypass solution fell through in 2023, Transflo Account Manager Brad Webster maintained close communication with Williams, ensuring that Nick Strimbu’s services were not disrupted. Thanks to this collaboration, the company seamlessly transitioned back to Drivewyze, integrated within the Transflo Mobile+ platform.
Working with Transflo provides Nick Strimbu drivers with the Transflo Mobile+ app, which supports document scanning, Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, and several time-saving integrations. The partnership also extends to the use of Transflo Velocity on the company’s logistics side for further back-end automation.
“Transflo plays a crucial role in enabling us to send, receive, index, and upload electronic paperwork in near real-time,” Williams explained. “This capability not only helps us get paid faster but also allows us to pay our drivers faster as well.”
For drivers, the integration of Drivewyze within the Transflo Mobile+ app significantly reduces time spent stopped on the side of the road by bypassing weigh stations. The solution has also streamlined back-end processes, notably eliminating much of the manual work involved in the billing cycle allowing staff to focus on the exceptions. Additionally, Transflo’s platform enables efficient indexing of scanned documents, linking them in their TMS to the corresponding loads for drivers.
When asked what differentiates Transflo, Williams highlighted their commitment to advancing technology in ways that drive business growth: “Transflo champions the progression of technology to excel business needs.”
