Transflo’s Engage Team: Cultivating Community and Giving Back
In a distributed work environment, building a strong company culture requires intention and creativity. At Transflo, the Engage program has become a cornerstone of our corporate culture, bridging geographical distances while making a meaningful difference in our communities.
Founded in 2022, Engage has transformed how Transflo employees connect across departments, functions, and locations. Through virtual events, friendly competitions, and impactful volunteer opportunities, the program has not only strengthened our internal bonds but extended our corporate mission beyond the technology we deliver to our customers.
We talked with two key members of our Engage team to discuss the importance of workplace culture, how the program has evolved, its impact on charitable organizations like The Jared Box Project, and memorable moments that showcase the true spirit of Transflo’s commitment to community:
- Emily Stratton, Vice President of Customer Solutions
- Mindy Duby, Vice President of Accounting/Controller

Why is it important to prioritize culture in the workplace?
Prioritizing culture in the workplace is essential as it fosters a sense of belonging and engagement among employees. A strong company culture encourages collaboration, innovation, and overall job satisfaction, which ultimately leads to higher productivity and retention rates. By cultivating an environment where everyone feels valued and connected, we empower our team to contribute their best work and thrive together.
How does Engage bring our remote team closer together?
Engage creates opportunities for connection and camaraderie among our remote team through a variety of fun virtual events and interactive activities. Whether it’s team-building games, virtual happy hours, or in persona charity/volunteer events, we provide platforms that allow team members to interact, share experiences, and build relationships, reinforcing our sense of community.
What changes have you noticed at Transflo since Engage was founded?
Since the establishment of the Engage Team in 2022, I’ve witnessed an incredible transformation in employee engagement and morale. Teams feel more connected because there’s an increase in collaboration across departments. Our Engage team and volunteers represent multiple departments who may not typically work together.
Why is it important for Transflo and other companies to get involved in our local communities?
Involvement in local communities allows companies like Transflo to give back and make a positive impact. It strengthens our brand reputation and fosters goodwill while demonstrating our commitment to social responsibility. By supporting local nonprofits and initiatives, we not only help those in need but also inspire our employees to take pride in their work and contribute to a larger purpose.
What impact has Engage had on charitable organizations?
Engage has played a significant role in supporting The Jared Box Project. Through our efforts, Transflo facilitated a $100,000 grant from Bregal Sagemount, which has enabled The Jared Box Project to expand its team. As a result, they can reach and support even more children in hospitals by providing them with Jared Boxes, helping bring smiles and joy during difficult times.
What’s your favorite memory from an Engage event or contest?
One of my favorite experiences from the past year has been the six Jared Box events we organized in partnership with our Transflo locations and several of our customers. It’s been incredibly rewarding to give back alongside our customers while creating lasting memories through impactful contributions to the local communities we serve.

Why is it important to prioritize culture in the workplace?
Prioritizing workplace culture is essential for building a strong, high-performing team. A positive culture fosters engagement, collaboration, and innovation, creating an environment where employees feel valued and motivated to contribute their best work. It also plays a critical role in retention—when people feel connected to their company’s values and leadership, they are more likely to stay and grow within the organization.
Beyond internal benefits, a strong culture enhances a company’s reputation, making it easier to attract top talent and build lasting relationships with clients and partners. As leaders, we must be intentional about shaping a culture that promotes transparency, inclusivity, and continuous growth, ensuring that our teams remain engaged, adaptable, and ready to drive success.
How does Engage bring our remote team closer together?
Engage brings our remote team closer together by fostering connection, collaboration, and a sense of community, no matter where we are. Through virtual happy hours, we create space for casual conversations and team bonding beyond work-related discussions. Friendly competitions, such as trivia challenges or costume/decorating contests, add a fun and engaging element that strengthens relationships and team spirit.
Additionally, we provide opportunities for in-person volunteer activities, allowing team members to give back to their communities while deepening connections with colleagues. By prioritizing these experiences, Engage ensures that our remote team feels connected, valued, and engaged, reinforcing a strong and inclusive company culture.
What changes have you noticed at Transflo since Engage was founded?
Since Engage was founded, I’ve noticed a stronger, more connected culture at Transflo. It has created new opportunities for cross-departmental relationship building that may not have happened otherwise, allowing teams to collaborate in ways that extend beyond their day-to-day roles.
Virtual happy hours, friendly competitions, and volunteer initiatives have helped break down silos, making it easier for employees across different functions to engage with one another on a more personal level. This has fostered a more inclusive and positive workplace culture where employees feel valued, supported, and more invested in our shared success. As a result, teamwork, communication, and overall engagement have significantly improved, strengthening Transflo’s culture in a meaningful way.
Why is important for Transflo and other companies to get involved in our local communities?
It is important for Transflo and other companies to get involved in our local communities because it strengthens our corporate culture, builds meaningful relationships, and creates a lasting positive impact. Supporting local initiatives through volunteer work, charitable giving, and community partnerships not only helps those in need but also fosters a sense of purpose and unity among employees. These efforts provide opportunities for team members to collaborate outside of their daily roles, strengthening cross-departmental relationships and reinforcing a culture of service and teamwork.
Additionally, community involvement enhances our company’s reputation, demonstrating our commitment to social responsibility and making Transflo a more attractive employer and business partner. By investing in the communities where we live and work, we contribute to a stronger, more connected future for everyone.
What impact has Engage had on charitable organizations?
Engage has made a significant impact on charitable organizations by providing both financial support and hands-on volunteer efforts. Through our initiatives, we have helped numerous organizations by donating funds, supplies, and resources while also encouraging employees to give their time and skills to meaningful causes. This combination of financial contributions and active participation has allowed us to make a real difference in the communities where we live and work.
Beyond the direct benefits to these organizations, Engage has fostered a culture of giving within Transflo, strengthening our team’s sense of purpose and connection. By continuing to support charitable efforts, we are not only helping those in need but also reinforcing our company’s values of service, teamwork, and social responsibility.
What’s your favorite memory from an Engage event or contest?
One of my favorite Engage memories was our in-person Tampa volunteer event supporting The Jared Box Project. After so much time apart, it was incredibly rewarding to reconnect with my local Tampa co-workers in person while coming together for a meaningful cause.
Working side by side to assemble and donate Jared Boxes for our local children’s hospital not only strengthened our bonds as a team but also reinforced the impact we can make when we give back. It was a perfect reminder of how Engage brings us together, both as colleagues and as a force for good in our community.
